General Ghost Hunting Tips:

Check out the location you are going to during the day to become familiar with the area you will be investigating. Look for dangerous areas and obstacles that may cause harm in the dark. Take pictures and record videos so you have comparisons to use while reviewing your footage from your investigation.
Make sure you aren’t breaking the law! Notify the local authorities that you’ll be in the area. Explain that you will not be defacing the property and that you will not create any noise or disturbances.
Makes sure you bring your ID! Lurking around a cemetery with no identification is not something you want.
Never go alone. Strange things are known to happen and you don’t know how you’ll respond or how the ghosts will respond to you.
Be respectful of the area. Don’t move anything and don’t take anything with you! Ghosts will attach themselves to things and the next thing you know you’ve got a ghost friend…or foe.
If you feel uncomfortable do not hesitate to leave. Go with your gut! If you feel like running away screaming like a girl—run away screaming like a girl! Better to run than stay and put yourself or others in harm.
Large groups should split into pairs as to cover more ground. Be wary of the other pairs while recording for EVPs as distant voices can appear to be ghosts trying to communicate with you.
Keep in contact with the other groups at all times. Carry walkie-talkies or cell phones with you. Keep in mind that KII Meters can be set off by these devices.
Smokers: Don’t do it. If you absolutely have to, have a designated area a good distance away from where you’re investigating. The smoke could come out to look like a ghost!
During your investigation and EVP sessions keep talking to a minimum and do not whisper or make strange noises. Talk in your normal voice, otherwise you risk being mistaken for an EVP on the recorder.
Always clean your lens on camera and camcorders. Smudges ruin pictures that could prove to be very useful in proving the existence of the paranormal.
Be patient. You’re not the only one who’s freaked out by this. Ghosts need time to build up the energy to communicate.
Have a open mind. Don’t just blow everything off as the wind or an animal. Your negative energy will cause the ghosts to not want to communicate.
While you don’t want to be close-minded, you don’t want to be overenthusiastic. You can mistake bugs or spider webs as something from the paranormal.
