Famous Haunted Places: Winchester Mystery House
The Winchester Mystery House is a well-known California mansion that was under construction continuously for 38 years, and is reported to be haunted. It once was the personal residence of Sarah Winchester, the widow of gun magnate William Wirt Winchester, but is now a tourist attraction. Under Winchester's day-to-day guidance, its "from-the-ground-up" construction proceeded around-the-clock, without interruption, from 1884 until her death on September 5, 1922, at which time work immediately ceased. Famous Haunted Places: Waverly Hills Santorium
The Waverly Hills Sanatorium is located in Louisville Kentucky. Construction began in March of 1924. It opened on October 17, 1926 to administer patients. Waverly served as a tuberculosis hospital until 1961, when it was closed down to be quarantined and renovated. The facility remained a geriatrics center until 1980, when it was closed by the state for alleged patient abuse. It is widely considered to be one of the most haunted places in the United States. Famous Haunted Places: Bell Witch Haunting
The Bell Witch or Bell Witch Haunting is a poltergeist legend from Southern United States folklore, involving the Bell family of Adams, Tennessee. According to the legend, the first manifestation of the haunting occurred in 1817 when John William Bell, Sr. encountered a strange animal in a cornfield on his large farm in Robertson County, on the Red River, near Adams, Tennessee. The animal, described as having the body of a dog and the head of a rabbit, vanished when Bell shot at it. This incident was quickly followed by a series of strange beating and gnawing noises manifesting outside and eventually inside the Bell residence. Famous Haunted Places: Dragsholm Castle
Dragsholm Castle is a fortification and noble residence near Hørve in Odsherred on the Danish island of Zealand. Construction was started by the Bishop of Roskilde in the late 12th century. The castle is noted popularly for the number of ghosts claimed to haunt it, including Bothwell's horse and the White Lady. The story of the White Lady is quite tragic. She was a noble lady who fell in love with a peasant. The family felt this was a disgrace, so they walled her in alive. The only reason we know of this is because they tore down the wall she was imprisoned in, and unearthed her skeleton. Click Here to learn more about the haunted Dragsholm Castle.
